Julia Child
(August 15, 1912 - August 13, 2004)

American cooking authority, cookbook author,

TV Cooking show host, etc. Before attending the

Cordon Bleu cooking school in the late 1940's,

Julia Child had worked in advertising in the U.S.,

and for the OSS (which later became the CIA) in

Ceylon and China during World War II from

1941-1945. 1963 Julia Child's 'The French Chef'

premiered on TV.

I had the pleasure of her company and will always

remember her wit during my television

appearance with her on "Fooding Around". 

And especially her sincere interest in

young and aspiring food journalists and

book authors. Julia Child shared the passions,

philosophies, and products of her kitchen,

with family, friends, colleagues, and fans for 4

5 years. Now she is sharing the kitchen itself

with millions, having donated it to the

National Museum of American History in 2001.
